I am on antibiotics to cure the infection, but cannot afford a dentist should the problem persist when the regimen is completed. My question, can an absess be cured with antibiotics alone and be present when the teeth are healthy? Flossing, brushing with peroxide, might they prevent the abcess from returning? I have medical coverage but no dental, nor can I in the least afford one right now, unfortunately. Please, any advice is more than appreciated. Thanks!
I’ve had one for like 6 years but it was draining so it didn’t hurt bad but when I got it cleaned, it killed me…I was put on antibiotics to kill the infection but then I had to do a root canal…my teeth appeared healthy but it was pretty sensitive…Ask your community about this free dental clinic in your area…There are programs that are free to get dental work done for free…Thing is, you have to have a job and no insurance to qualify plus it’s done by dental students which isn’t too bad b/c they have a dentist on hand…
I’m debating with my mom about this, she insists that protocol calls for flossing after brushing your teeth. I personally like to floss before i brush my teeth.
Is there a difference which one’s done first?
Most dental experts agree that both ways are just as acceptable and efficient as long as they are both performed properly. It is purely preference. I’m glad to hear that you and your mom practice proper oral hygiene =)
I have a dentist’s brochure that says I’m supposed to floss their teeth, but I think it would be totally impossible. I can barely get my 4 year old son to sit still long enough to brush. I can’t even imagine flossing!
Get your four year old these disposable flossers by "Plackers." They are little flossers that you can teach him use, and they even have fun colors for kids. It’s much easier than learning to floss with actual dental floss because you have a pick that you hold onto that has the flosser string on it.
They also sell the ones by Reach that are longer and the floss part is disposable, but the holder isn’t. The refills are a little pricey though.
I have a 6 year old pit bull with really bad breath. She’s the sweetest dog in the world with people, kids and cats. I’ve thought about taking her to the vet and having her teeth cleaned but they would sedate her to do it and it’s not really in the budget right now. She’s not aggressive at all but like most dogs she doesn’t like you sticking your hands in her mouth. Looking for natural at home remedies.
Thanks
If her teeth have tarter on them then you have to get them done by the vet. Otherwise you can purchase toothpaste from the pet store and use dental chews. Though the vet is the only one that can get rid of tarter.
And then when the tooth fairy is finished with them they don’t necessarily grow straight teeth for adult teeth? Hmmm?!
That’s not true. Our daughter had a terrible underbite and very crooked baby teeth and required braces to provide a straight pathway for the permanent teeth.
All the best.
Just wondering my 10 month old has 2 teeth, and 4 on top coming through now. I just saw a 10 month old with a full set of teeth and it shocked me. lol. How many teeth did your little one have at 10 months?
My 10 month old just got his first tooth a week ago and I can see a second coming any day now!
My 21 month-old daughter will not allow me to brush her teeth. I’ve tried getting her to do it herself, but all she does is lick off the training toothpaste. Any attempt I make to brush is met by clamped jaws, a turned head and a full-blown fit. I’ve tried using a colorful character electric toothbrush. Anyone else had this problem and solved it?
I know where you’re coming from. My son never wanted me to brush his teeth until a year ago, and it was a power struggle every time. He’s now 4 and a half already, and it’s been working great with our new method: We have a whole collection of different toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes (Wall-E, Sponge Bob, Diego, Thomas the Train…), on the bathroom sink, and depending on his mood, he picks a different toothbrush and a different toothpaste every time, and the fact that he can choose gives him the impression that he’s controlling the situation. So instead of saying "Come on! Let’s brush your teeth now.", I ask him what toothbrush and what toothpaste he wants to use to brush his teeth, and he’s happy to have a chance to decide, although I am actually in control of the situation, not him.
Also, he saw a cartoon not a long time ago where the bacteria that live in the mouth have been personified, and after he saw it, he was so afraid to have these little bugs digging holes in his teeth that he got up and wanted me to brush his teeth right away. For now, your daughter is a little too young to get that but I’m sure that she will at least enjoy the chance to pick her own toothbrush and toothpaste every time.
