Is it mandatory that I clean my dog’s ears and brush his teeth?

I know this may sound irresponsible of me somehow but I’m really not used to cleaning his ears or brushing his teeth. I only give him a bath when needed and since he is 8 months old, a shih-tzu, I give him these chew bones that clean his teeth and breath. Am I doing enough? I give him the best care I possibly can.

My parents have a dog that if my mom doesn’t keep its ears clean and the hair trimmed, the dog will get ear infections. It helps with overall health just like yours, and it is mandatory in some instances.

When do you let your children brush their own teeth?

My mother (and grandmother when I stayed with her) brushed my teeth for me until I was about 8 years old. Is that too old?
My family’s Italian if that makes any difference.
I’m thinking to do the same with my own children when I have them in the future. Follow tradition that is.
Actually, I could and did brush my own teeth since I was five. But my mother had cavities in her life, so usually did mine for me to make sure I never got cavities – and I didn’t.

yes much too old. my son is 7 now and has been brushing his own teeth since about 3. In the beginning I was there to supervise but he did it. Now I dont even watch him I just have him show me his teeth afterwards.

I want to start to implement teeth brushing in my 9 month olds routine even though he only has 2 teeth i think i need to start getting him used to it. Could you give me your examples of how you did it and what worked and didnt work?

My son is also 9 months and was showing a lot of interest when I brush my teeth so I got out a new tooth brush and handed it to him. He copies me and "brushes" his own teeth. He even has the bristles down towards his two little teeth and chews on the brush. When I am done I take his brush away as well and show him how I rinse it and put it away.

How do I brush my teeth if I have huge cut in my innerlip?

I had a cut about a inch long in my innerlip that was halfway to heal. Yesterday I accidentally got it reopen and cut it even deeper. Now it’s half way across my lower lip. So it’s very painful to brush my teeth because my innerlip swollen up a lot more plus the cut is longer and deeper.

What should I do? Is there anything I can do beside brushing that will at least clean my teeth some? It’ll take about three to five days for cut to heal enough for me to brush my teeth again.

I would say use mouth wash and flossing for awhile. Or get those cleaning pads with toothpaste on them that are now so popular.

im getting this white builed up on my tounge. And yes i brush my teath…..alot…..

could it be a sexually transmitted decease? and if yes, what one?

and yes i have gone down on a guy….i have had it there for about 1 week.

If it is sexual transmitted disease, it probably oral candidiasis.
But no one could tell if we didn’t see it ourself. White matter on tongue could be anything. It even can be typhoid fever (if you had fever).
