Not necessarily by only looking at the teeth can they determine any type of child abuse. There are also other signs like if they are bruised up, If the child is nervous like when other kids cry, if the child is afraid to go home, if the child is frightened by parents, injuries or tears in the labial frenum, cigarette burns or bite marks. There are so many different ways of telling when a child is being abused when they come in a dental office, that it's not only visible through their teeth,. Behavior, physical and mental appearance also has a big part in this.
References :
Registered Dental Assistant

It sounds possible but some people have naturally crooked teeth. I have heard of it but I don't know if it is true.
References :
Not necessarily from the teeth themselves but there are signs of abuse which can be recognized within the oral cavity, and any dental professional who suspects abuse is obligated to report it.
