What teeth whitening strips work the best, but are still affordable?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

I have horrible stains on my teeth from years ago. Recently, I’ve started drinking coffee sometimes twice a day, though in the past I only had a cup once or twice a week. This has cause my teeth to get even more yellow. From experience, what has worked the best for you?

Crest Whitening Strips. if you think they are expensive then try some home remedies they are equally effective

1. Application of a paste of lemon juice and salt in the yellowish tint of the teeth is a wonderful way of eradicating that dull color of the teeth.

2. Rubbing the inner white part of an orange peel in the discolored teeth gives a lovely white shine.

What are the best products for teeth whitening?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I was wondering what products are the best for teeth whitening?

First, what is a good whitening toothpaste?

Second, what is a good product to use for teeth whitening that doesn’t leave my teeth extremely sensitive? I have heard from multiple people that a lot of the whitening strips leave your teeth very sensitive. Anyone have any experience with a whitening product that does not leave you with extremely sensitive teeth after?

Teeth whitening is commonly accomplished by applying a bleaching agent to the teeth. The longer the bleaching agent is applied the better it works. Or at least this is how every teeth whitening system is marketed.

What is the correlation between teeth and your heart?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I’ve always had tooth decay since I was old enough to have teeth. Now that I am 41 yrs. old my heart specialist told me that I have PAC (premature atrial contraction) and mitral valve leakage. Upon examining my teeth, which I’ve had a few pulled and the others are rotting he said this is why you have heart problems. What does bad teeth and heart problems have in common?

I am a dentist.

Really, the issue at hand is the bacteria present in and around your teeth. These bacteria, given the right circumstances, can infect your heart and cause a condition known as Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis. During many dental procedures, oral bacteria are introduced into the blood stream, creating a bacteremia (look it up). These bacteria in the blood stream ultimately reach the heart. On a patient with a normally-functioning heart, this is not a problem because smooth flow of blood over smooth tissue surfaces prevents infection of the endocardium. Nonphysiologic heart-murmers, artificial heart valves, valvular defects, atrial and ventricular septal defects, and other heart abnormalities where blood flow in the heart becomes turbulent, is a risk factor for SBE. That is why any conscientious dentist will premedicate patients who have such heart abnormalities with 2g of Amoxicillin (or 600mg of Clindamycin or 500mg of Zithromax for Penicillin-allergic patients) 1 hour before any dental work is performed.

I have not, however, heard of oral bacteria directly causing arrhythmias like PACs or mitral valve leakage. Of course, if you do have damaged heart valves, introduction of oral bacteria into the blood stream can result in infection of the valves and formation of vegetations that further hinder the valves function (i.e. making them more leaky). But then again, I sure as hell don’t know everything about the heart and its diseases.

It is also suggested that oral bacteria can help the development of atherosclerosis. A cardiologist would know the process better than I do, but atherosclerosis is thought to be triggered by some sort of damage to the endothelium, the inner lining of a blood vessel (often times, the coronary arteries). This damaged area of endothelium is, I guess, more easily infected by bacteria which in turn causes immune attack and further damage to the endothelium and buildup of atherosclerotic plaques underneath the endothelium….perhaps. The connection has yet to be proven, and it is entirely possible that I don’t have the description right.

Your cardiologist would (or at very least, should) know more about this than I do.

What causes teeth to become crooked at a young age?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

I have noticed that most babies have straight teeth but sometimes when they get older and get their milk teeth out, their adult teeth get crooked. Why is that?Is it because of genetics or something else?

It’s related to the size of your jaw and the size of your teeth, so it all boils down to genetics

In a baby, the jaw is small and the teeth are small. But this is highly variable as one grows older and get permanent dentition.

How long does it take for teeth to grow?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I had an operation more than a year ago to take out one of my baby teeth and to put a gold chain through the roof of my mouth onto the adult tooth to make the adult tooth come down. As i said this was a year and a half ago and i am still waiting for the adult tooth to grow down. The chain has been tightened around ten times which has been sometimes very painful. There is no sign of a tooth growing down and the surgeon said it should only take a few months. I am fifteen years old, nearly sixteen, and this is obviously very frustrating.

It should have been out in 3 to 6 months, soit means the tooth is stuck and may be need to be extracted

I dont have health insurance, so anything dental and vision ends up costing me a lot. (I don’t have Health Insurance because once you turn 22, and you are under your parents insurance, you are dropped. Sucks about being an adult =P)

PriceDoc is a great alternative to those who need health care procedures.

PriceDoc.com is such an easy to use website and a great way to obtain any medical or dental procedure online. I got a great cash price for my teeth whitening, and the procedure was great!!! I will use it for more procedures as you can search not only for a dentist, but also for almost any healthcare procedures, comparing prices and doctors, and even bidding them making a lower offer for many healthcare procedures!

The dentist I went to in New York. She is so sweet and very professional. I highly recommend her.

PriceDoc paid for my teeth whitening. I was was tweeting last month about how I can get white teeth. I use to use whitening strips, but they don’t work as well as I would like them to. PriceDoc saw my tweet and asked if I wanted to try out their service. If I liked the experience, I can share it with you guys. Well, obviously the experience was wonderful. Thank you PriceDoc.

how many teeth should an average adult have and when do molars start growing?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

im 13 and i have 12 teeth on top and 12 on the bottom. on one side of my mouth it it sore and i think it might be a molar or wisdom tooth whatever they are called. does all this sound normal,Should i have more teeth?Oh and do you have to get molars removed?

when ur mouth is done getting new teeth, there should be 32 total. most adults have their wisdoms taken out though, so that leaves them with 28. since you say that you have 24 teeth right now, you still have a few more molars to come, then around 17-21 years old, your wisdom teeth are going to come in. congrats on the new teeth! =]
