Is it mandatory that I clean my dog’s ears and brush his teeth?

I know this may sound irresponsible of me somehow but I’m really not used to cleaning his ears or brushing his teeth. I only give him a bath when needed and since he is 8 months old, a shih-tzu, I give him these chew bones that clean his teeth and breath. Am I doing enough? I give him the best care I possibly can.

My parents have a dog that if my mom doesn’t keep its ears clean and the hair trimmed, the dog will get ear infections. It helps with overall health just like yours, and it is mandatory in some instances.

Best way to clean a dogs teeth yourself?

I have a 6 year old pit bull with really bad breath. She’s the sweetest dog in the world with people, kids and cats. I’ve thought about taking her to the vet and having her teeth cleaned but they would sedate her to do it and it’s not really in the budget right now. She’s not aggressive at all but like most dogs she doesn’t like you sticking your hands in her mouth. Looking for natural at home remedies.

If her teeth have tarter on them then you have to get them done by the vet. Otherwise you can purchase toothpaste from the pet store and use dental chews. Though the vet is the only one that can get rid of tarter.

Feeding raw chicken bones to clean teeth?

I’ve heard about this a few times before, but have never tried it. I KNOW that cooked bones will splinter, I’m talking about RAW bones. I’ve heard they work wonders for cleaning teeth. I have two miniature pinschers (7 lbs and 12 lbs) and am not sure how much is safe to give them. Any advice?

Feeding raw chicken and bones is perfectly safe to feed your two pups. Yes, bones keep dogs teeth clean. What seems more natural, dogs eating bones or brushing a dogs teeth?? Come on guys!!
I fed my girl kibble for a little over a year and she had an awful lot of calcium buildup. Simple brushing would NOT remove it. It would have to be removed by putting her under at a Vet and have him do it. But, I started feeding raw and within a few months, VIOLA!, pearly whites.
Chicken wings seem like a good size for your little ones, but sometimes it takes different bones that they really have to manipulate to get into the back deep crevices of their teeth. Hide (as in rabbit with the hair/hide) is great for teeth cleaning also.
And as for beef bones, you have to be careful with what you feed, especially with aggressive chewers (my little Corgi is one) they can cause broken teeth. Never feed a beef leg bone. They are too dense and will crack teeth.

My dentist says I need to clean my teeth better – Are is a waterpik the way to go – or is there a better way?

Waterpiks work wonders!! They dislodge any food particles that your toothbrush may miss. I use mine before I brush with an electric toothbrush. Or I have used it after I brushed. You would be surprised how much of the food particles you miss when you brush. I brush for 2 minutes with the brush and then use the waterpik for another 30 seconds. My electric tooth brush also has several settings including polishing for whitening with a special brush. I use that 3 – 4 times a week. Alternative – brushing for 3 – 4 minutes and using dental floss. Very time consuming.

One day I went to the dentist and my teeth were healthy and clean as usual, and my dentist said what is your grade point average and I was like, from 3.0- 3.5 and he was like no wonder.

good students usually have good habits… bad students tend to have bad habits and not likely to care for other things.

this by no means is a rule.

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH The first electric toothbrush was developed in 1939 in Scotland, but did not appear on the open market until the 1960s, when it was marketed as the Broxodent in the United States by Squibb Company. In 1961, General Electric introduced a rechargeable cordless toothbrush that moved up and down when activated. In 1987, the first rotary action toothbrush for home use, the Interplak, appeared in shops for the general public. There are currently many different varieties of model that use this mechanism.

TOOTHBRUSH is an instrument consisting of a small brush on a handle used to clean teeth through tooth brushing. A person chews one end of the neem twig until it somewhat resembles the bristles of a toothbrush, and then uses it to brush the teeth. In the Muslim world, the miswak, or siwak, made from a twig or root with antiseptic properties has been widely used since the Islamic Golden Age. Rubbing baking soda or chalk against the teeth was also common

How can I clean my wifes teeth when she has Dementia?

How do you clean someons teeth when they have Dementia and can’t do it themsleves and won’t let you do it for them, need to keep bacteria down in the mouth.

wait until she is asleep as the mouth will be relaxed, just use a dry brush and a tiny ammount of tooth paste to limit foaming.Ask your dentist for a prescription for ‘duraphat 5000′ tooth paste as its high in fluoride and will hopefully limit any risk of tooth decay. hope this helps.
