When you wake up do you brush teeth first or wait till after breakfast?

Some people, including me, were raised to brush teeth first thing you do when you wake up. Others I found will brush teeth only after breakfast. However, while it makes sense to brush after eating I can’t digest the idea of digesting bacteria formed while sleeping mixed with food. It tends to give me a stomach ache early in the morning. That’s just my opinion but …really… I’d like to find the norm or avg of how people approach this in the morning.

Thanks!

After the meal because a) I was brought up that way and b) I have braces so I have to do it after wards otherwise there would be no point.

I usually brush at night and just rinse in the morning after breakfast.

  5. You brush your teeth after eating because food sticks to the teeth and you want to prevent plaque building up. That’s the point about brushing after breakfast, not before. All that would be happening by brushing before breakfast is freshening the mouth. You can do this by rinsing with salt water.
